(Untitled) 03:24

A white star crash landed on a black hilltop So we tried to map a safe path Tried intentionally losing our way back We thought we caught it flickering off to our left side So we surrender to the distance Past a thousand hungry vines we would never pass again But with the dawn we see That there’s a canyon inbetween One frayed bridge for the crossing Half buried in dried leaves But those clouds were so divine! Drifting taking on the shapes of both of our eyes Casting gray and stormy glances toward the far lands we would never find Raining black and icy tears down on airplane windows in the sky But with the dusk we see That there’s a canyon inbetween One frayed bridge for the crossing Half buried in dried leaves It’s still too far to walk there from here We won’t make it before it disappears But it’s not as far as those long dead stars No it’s not as far as those long dead stars

Pattern 06:03
The pattern is clear Emerging from a blurry swamp of circles and squares Direction is gained From brightly lit-up arrows pointing every which way I’m packing up five photos and a jar of marmalade And I’m walking away The pattern is clear You’ve seen it one thousand times deep in the mirror In the heart of the night When your arms are far too tired to put up half a fight But in the morning you can go outside You can go outside Can you say is this the way to reach the sand Can anyone tell how to sail to dry land Can you say is this the way to reach the sand Can anyone tell how to sail to dry land The pattern grows dim Falling out of view twisting end over end Spinning down through the sky Then filling in an answer that’s not wrong but not right You’re finding it even harder still to decide So just go back inside Can you say is this the way to reach the sand Can anyone tell how to sail to dry land Can you say is this the way to reach the sand Can anyone tell how to sail to dry land

The sea has swallowed her whole The sea has swallowed her whole Swallowed her eyes and her mouth and her nose Then swallowed her body her mind and her soul The sea offers me no release It says again, “I have swallowed her whole Down past the bubbles, black boulders and brine She is now no longer yours she is mine” I blame the sun, I blame the sun I blame the moon and I blame everyone She is now gone, she is now gone, she is now gone The clifftops stare down through unblinking grey eyes While she makes her bed where the waves meet the sky Untie the ropes and push off and set sail I shall not return til I find her or fail I blame the sun, I blame the sun We were once two but now we are one Cause she is now gone, she is now gone, she is now gone Ten years have passed and I watch the waves still The seagulls fly by me, once cautious now bold I ask should they find her, please send her my words That the sea of my tears now swallows me whole And I blame the sun, I blame the sun But I must return home I’ve traveled so long And she is still gone, she is still gone, she is still gone I blame the sun, I blame the sun For how dare it still rise to shine through the fog When she is still gone, when she is still gone, when she is still…

A dazzling daisy rose up from the street But he called her the ugliest plant you could meet “Your stalk is all twisted, your colors too few I can’t see why anyone would ever pick you” And she cried “Against all the odds fought for water and sun Just for the one day that I’d see someone Look down on my petals, find brightness that day I just can’t see how he could have such a say” Well, he lied It had nothing at all to do With botany or truth It wasn’t that he thought Photosynthesis was flawed It was just because his own colors had all rained off A glorious sunrise came over the fence “You’re the sorryest daybreak I ever did glimpse Raced up far too quickly, got lost in the fog You might as well not bother shining at all” So it rained “I’ve traveled for lightyears in circles, blank space Just to give life to this dirty old rock And only for that life to laugh in my face I think that tomorrow I won’t rise at all Just stay set” It had nothing at all to do With astronomy or truth It wasn’t like he’d shown That comets were crashing on homes He’d just forgotten how to rise and give light of his own A day without flowers, a week without sun He looked out for something to shoulder the blame But found only dimness, blank patches of ground And all over town was the same and the same and the same
6.
Winter 2 06:12
Well, the winter grew weak and fell ill She tried sleeping on sunshine And soaking her cold battered will But the snow bled away So we chased it down Broadway Til neon lights gave way to daybreak Then we celebrate For all the long hours ago When we thought we learned all we could know So we bottled up whiskey and light And we tried to live safely outside Til we stopped keeping track and bid summers goodbye And all that we want’s a new pill Whether legal or lawless The only difference comes in the bill And the shape of the dose So give us red ones or blue ones As long as they color our souls And give us ten miles more For all the long drives yet to go Where we thought we’d learn all we could know So we bottled up whiskey and light And we tried to live safely outside But when the last blizzard went dry, we knew – Wasn’t much moisture to hold So we bid bye to springtime and stopped growing cold They don’t lock the doors when they go Cause the world is at peace now We no longer have any foes But they’ll leave on the light They will wink and they’ll wave But they’re too tired to say goodnight
7.
Plumeria 12:44
If you look close the stars all wobble in their paths Every night they move forward but not very Fast So I think you could race them, even win if you tried You just need to get a little bit closer to sky So you called up remembrance, rang ghosts of the past And you fed them the present, til you weren’t scared to Ask If you know how to get there, could you lift me to space? I will feed you the future if you help bear its weight So carry me, like a scent on your breeze Out to sea, out to sea Then up above, until the last star dissolves And then just let them fall, just let them fall With your eyes on the Milky Way, you fled full speed Past a kingdom of flowers, plumeria dreams But the symphonic winter still rose from the east Plucking off every petal with ice and disease Til you reached tidal daylight, and tsunami nights As the tropical stormclouds rained lurid insights But the warm windy winter could not slow your pace So you waved bye to Neptune, seeking Pluto’s embrace And carry me, like a scent on your breeze Out to sea, out to sea Then up above, until the last star dissolves And then just let them fall, just let them fall Carry me Or just let me fall
8.
They said he was a desperate man They said he would take anything he can They wondered why and wrung their hands Furrowed their poor eyebrows on command The said he had few avenues Cause he could not win, but he could not stand to lose They felt that she had little choice She drank too much, she read too much James Joyce He said he’d sail the seven seas And that seven nights a week, he would sleep and sleep and sleep She wanted to be entertained To climb out from the dead weight of her brain But they could not carry it all They tipped left and then right, before they began to fall The sky started to look unreal So they lay down on the floor, and there you will find them still

about

The Drowning Dreamers Band is an indie chamber folk ensemble, from Honolulu, HI, with a slate gray streak of shoegaze postrock, running through its middle.

With its debut, self-titled album, the band hopes to provide a fitting backdrop, in case you've found yourself in the midst of your next north Atlantic passage, Arctic expedition, Death Valley breakfast, Nebraskan power outage, or even just a momentary, extra bit of restlessness, in a dim or confined space you call home. But if there are other heightened scenarios, for which they may be of service, they hope you'll let them know.

And thanks so much for listening.
